General Membership Meeting, 17 Aug 2009 
 
  • Welcome/Introductions were made.
  • Principal’s Remarks:  The newAssistant Principal, Kris Floyd, said the year is off to a great start.  1750 students are enrolled & 27-29 students are in a class.  She is pleased with the new student information system that is being introduced to the Fayette County School System and as soon as the elementary school teachers are trained, parents will be able to check out their children’s status on line (instead of mygradebook.com). Lisa Fine explained the tribunal process.  She agreed that MHS is off to a great start and is looking at ways to improve the schedule, locker & parking permit process for next year.
  • Treasurer's Report:  The budget was reviewed and new ways to bring in money were discussed.
  • Committee Reports
      • Accident Avoidance Workshop:  Diana Roman presented this new workshop and is waiting on approval.  Information about this driver training should be coming home soon.
      • Appropriations:  Regie Cameron explained the teacher wish list process and what items had been purchased in the past for our school.
      • Bulletin Board:  Please bring any positive MHS news that you would like displayed to the front desk.
      • Fashionata: Kathleen Oelberg, chair, is working on getting various designers to provide fashions so we don’t keep going to the same local stores all the other schools are going to. Gina Bolen will assist. Date is 12 March; dress rehearsal is 10 March. Models are Student Club members.
      • Front Office:  Volunteers are being trained.  If you have not been contacted, you most likely have been placed on a waiting/sub list.
      • Guidance:  No Report
      • Homecoming:  Sept. 18–game, Sept. 19–dance, Parade-date to be announced. PTSO has a committee chair – Donna Duff – who will organize PTSO to help with the planning.
      • Hospitality:  Sabrina Aslam shared with us the events throughout the year in which this committee is involved Volunteers are always appreciated.
      • Landscaping:  Gina Bolen & Mary Ann Boicourt will co-chair this committee, with assistance from Kathleen Oelberg.
      • Media Center:  New Committee, will run similarly to the Front Office – please volunteer to help.
      • Recycling:  McIntosh Goes Greener Lisa Hall reported on recycling possibilities. 
      • Service Projects:  Laurel Cantlon thanked Boy Scout, Niles Goodfellow, and Porter Paints for donating to the improvement of the concession stand bathrooms.
      • School Store:  Please volunteer to be a fly on the wall from 7:45-8:45am once a month or once a week…you name it! Whatever your schedule can handle!
      • Spiritwear:  We’ve got Spirit – yes we do!  Order forms with pricing info will be on the MHS web site soon. Jeanette Barnhill will sell during lunch this week.
      • Student Club – Want to fund fix for courtyard drainage problem but it may be too costly and county may just have to handle; club will need a back-up idea for what they want to donate to school. Mrs Potash & Mrs Fine will investigate the drainage issue and report back.
      • New officers for 2009-2010:

        • Junior officers -  Courtney Barker & Amelia Neiger
  • Old Business
      • Orientation Assistance:  Thank You to all the volunteers who helped!
      • Collating Assistance:  Ditto!
  • New Business
      • Committee Chair Meeting:  Thursday 3 Sept, 10am, senior cafeteria
      • Brick Sale:  Possible Fundraiser included under Landscaping; Gina Bolen & Kathleen Oelberg will spearhead – proceeds to possibly go towards the drainage problem
      • Ideas for Night Meeting programs:  Please send your ideas to Cele Eifert
      • Budget:  still being tweaked; will be voted on at next meeting
