General Membership Meeting, 14 April 2009

2. Principal’s Remarks

Dan Lane has been overseeing the registration process and is planning on having the schedules ready before the end of the school year.  Zero period has been extended and AP courses (Economics & Government) have been expanded.  Teacher contracts are still under negotiation.  MHS has lost 4 positions: media, counselor & 2 teaching. 

3. Treasurer's Report

Discussed MHS tax status and the income & expenditures for March

4. Committee Reports

• Appropriations:  Science Olympiad & McIntosh Academic Team need to be added to the budget

• Bulletin Board:  No report

• Fashionata:  Money is still coming in

• Front Office:  No report

• Guidance:  Senior Honors Night is May 4^th at 7:00 pm

      Undergraduate Honors Night is May 5^th at 7:00 pm 

• Hospitality:  No report

• Landscaping:  Eagle Scout project is waiting for final approval

• School Store: Shawn Yeatman has reportedly agreed to co-chair this committee next year, still looking for someone to help with the scheduling.  If interested contact Nancy Elward 770-631-8870 nelward@bellsouth.net

• Spiritwear:  Orders for the spirit packs were placed.  Jeanette Barnhill & Laurie Licitra will be co-chairing this committee next year

• Student Club:  See New Business

• Nominating: The slated 2009-2010 Executive Board was accepted and will be voted on at the May meeting; nominations from the floor - in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order - can also be made at that meeting:

5. Old Business 

• Custodial need for 10 cases of paper towels @ $12 per case was approved
• PTSO Night Meeting: For those of you who were unable to attend, look for Dr Trevena’s presentation on our website
• Teacher Appreciation Week: 3-9 May
• Accident Avoidance Workshop:  Parents & students interested in attending or needing more information contact Diana Roman 678-364-0310 romandj@mindspring.com

6. New Business

• MHS Academic Bowl: request approved for $750
• Science Olympiad: request approved for $100
• Student Club: incentive drawings at their May meeting
• 2009-2010 PTSO Executive Board: Slate was accepted
• The motion to add a Conflict of Interest policy to the Articles of Incorporation was approved
