Practice SAT & ACT
The McIntosh Guidance Department will be hosting a service for students who want to experience taking the SAT & ACT for practice before they begin taking the test for real. Results from this testing will not be sent to any college. Instead, it will provide an opportunity for students to decide where their strengths and weaknesses are and how they need to prepare before taking the REAL THING! Any students, particularly juniors, are invited to register for these practice tests. Register in the Guidance Office Before Friday, January 23, 2009. $20 for one test or $35 for both the SAT and the ACT. The SAT will be administered on January 24th from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the McIntosh Auditorium. The ACT will be administered on February 7th from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the McIntosh Auditorium. On February 11th at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium test scores will be returned. The follow up session workshop will be held for both parents and students. During this workshop tips will be given on how to improve scores and make your SAT and ACT experience more successful.

It will bring together approximately 900 students, an increase of 100 over last year, outstanding rising high school seniors from around the country for a six-day immersion into West Point. The program consists of daily morning physical training, academic classes, and intramurals, a day of military training, administration of the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA), a West Point tour, and social functions. The academic program features workshops and class samplings from the Academy’s curriculum. All participants stay in cadet barracks and meals are in the Cadet Mess. Students pay their own travel expenses plus a registration fee of $325 to pay for food, workshop materials, and some West Point apparel.
Students apply for SLS (Summer Leaders Seminar) online only at http://admissions.usma.edu/. There will be a link to “click” to apply for SLS starting December 15, 2008 and ending on April 1, 2009. Students are selected from among the top performers academically and in leadership
potential as gauged by their extracurricular and athletic activities with consideration given to
