On-Campus College Visits:  Come by Guidance to sign-up in the On-Campus Visit book, complete the form for a pass, and pick up a handout.  These visits are for senior and juniors only.  Remember no passes will be issued the day of the visit.  Only three visits per student per year, so choose wisely!

Order Transcripts in Guidance, cost is $3.00 ea —and will be available in THREE school days after ordering.  Transcripts can now be ordered on line at www.GAcollege411.org Log on or create an account, click on “My 411”, choose “My Transcripts” on the left menu.  Verify or update information, click ”Update info and continue” button.  Select destination schools (use CTRL and click to select multiple schools if you choose to send to more that one).  Enable automatic release of future versions.  Click “Release Transcript” button.  A confirmation will be presented.  Recipient Post Secondary Institution(s) will be listed with release date.  After the Post Secondary Institution downloads the transcript, a date will be displayed.  Log off.

The 2008 – 09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) paper forms will no longer be available through schools.  Students can obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243.  Students may request up to three copies of the paper application and should receive their FAFSA in three to seven business days.  A PDF version of the FAFSA will be available for download on various Federal Student Aid web sites such as www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov.  Students can access the PDF, complete the form on the computer or by hand and mail it to the address provided for processing. 

Albany State University – 2007-2008 Campus Visitation Days on February 16, 2008 and March 22, 2008.  The informational program will begin at 9:00 a.m. in HPER Gymnasium. 

Savannah College of Art and Design will host SCAD Days.  This will include tours, admission information, portfolio counseling, financial aid and fellowship information.  The Atlanta location date is March 1, 2008.  The Savannah location dates are February 16 and April 5, 2008.  Register at www.scad.edu/visit.

Bank of America Student Leaders Program is an opportunity for selected students to participate in a paid summer internship with Hands on Atlanta.  Awardees will also partake in a six day, all-expense paid Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.  For more information visit www.bankofamerica.com/foundation.  The deadline is February 29, 2008.

Reinhardt College will host The Way College Should Be for high school seniors on February 23, 2008.  The high school junior date is Saturday, April 19, 2008. The Medical College of Georgia Summer 2008 Student Educational Enrichment Program is a seven week program from May 31 through July 18, 2008.  This program is offered to students who have completed their high school junior or senior year, have a “B” average and are strongly interested in health professions.  This is an excellent opportunity and has an application deadline of March 1, 2008.

Preview Georgia Tech is a comprehensive visitation program that provides a thorough look at the academic offerings, student services, activities and facilities.  The preview dates are Monday, April 7 and Friday, June 27, 2008.  For more information, fees and registration, visit the web site at www.visits.gatech.edu/preview. 

Virginia Military Institute will conduct several overnight introduction programs.  You will stay in a cadet’s room.  The programs will give you information on how VMI will best meet your academic and personal needs.  The dates are February 15, & 16, March 7 & 8 and April 18 & 19, 2008.  For more information call 1-800-767-4207 or visit the web site at http://www.vmi.edu.

The National Association for College Admission Counseling is hosting a National College Fair on Sunday, February 19, 2008 from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park.  This is a great fair that allows students to interact with admission representatives from a wide range of colleges to discuss course offerings, admission and financial aid requirements, college life in general and other information pertinent to the college selection process.  For more information about the fair visit the web site at www.nacacnet.org/NCF. 

Andrew College is holding its annual Academic Scholarship Competition Saturday, February 23, 2008.  Participants must have a least a 3.0 GPA and have a minimum SAT score of 1000 or ACT composite of 21 and be accepted to Andrew College.  Up to two full scholarships will be awarded.  You may register by calling 800-664-9250 or emailing admissions@andrewcollege.edu.

Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering invites rising high school junior and senior girls to participate in a Computers and Technology program.  The program is designed for females interested in engineering and the sciences.  The program will be held June 29 – July 12, 2008.  For more information visit the website at www.ctech2.eng.vt.edu.  

A 4 day Washington D.C./Virginia area College Campus Tour is set for April 3rd – 6th, 2008.  The colleges included in the tour are The College of William and Mary, Hampton, Georgetown and Howard Universities.  The $375 cost includes a chartered bus, three nights’ hotel accommodations, college tours, tour of Washington D.C., some meals and more.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office and the first deposit is due February 4th For more information visit info@dreambig-inc.com.  

The Construction Education Foundation of Georgia is hosting a Career Expo April 24th and 25th at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds in Lawrenceville.  This is a unique opportunity to visit the state’s largest construction, architecture and engineering career fair.  For more information, visit www.cefga.org.  
 
 
 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON NEW CREDIT AND CREDIT RECOVERY

New Credit – No more than 1 credit may be obtained per semester.  Limit of 2 credits may count toward graduation from a Fayette County Public School.  The two credits are for the entire high school career, including summer. 

Credit Recovery – No limit.

A permission form MUST be obtained from your counselor prior to enrolling in a course.

Ordering AP Exam Scores 

  1. Call the AP collegeboard at 1-888-225-5427.
  2. After the menu options’ recording is completed, wait on the line to speak with a customer service representative.
  3. Tell the representative that you with to have your AP scores sent to a college/university.  The McIntosh school code is 112360.  The representative may ask you for this code.
  4. Cost:  Advanced rush delivery (scores are mailed within 2 business days) is $25.  Regular delivery (scores are mailed within 5 business days) is $15.  You can pay by credit card over the phone.
