Serious Stuff For Seniors September 3, 2009
Information Night 6:30 – 8:30 pm
(How to get there and how to pay for it!)
This evening is targeted for parents of students who are Seniors this year AND their senior students. We will have a multi-part program. One part of the program will focus on the many items that Senior students need to accomplish as they pursue their post-secondary educational choices. A checklist of items will be provided. Other parts of the program will feature a representative from the Georgia Finance Commission who will explain the financial aid process, including information on the HOPE scholarship, a section on the emotional changes seniors and parents face and a “Parent-to-Parent” session.
PROBE Fair @ Sandy Creek High School September 17 , 2009

Over 110 colleges will be present at Sandy Creek High School for an informational fair on admission procedures, campus life, course offerings, and much more! Please don’t miss it! This is for the whole family.
Just for Juniors October 1, 2009
Information Night 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Parents of Juniors and Junior students are invited to join us as we talk about how to begin the journey toward graduation from high school and on to other exciting opportunities.
The counselors will discuss:
ü Course selection
ü SAT and ACT exams
ü Aptitude exams such as the ASVAB
ü How to read a transcript
ü Many other items!
A representative from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will also be speaking on the financial aid process, including the HOPE scholarship.
PSAT/ASVAB October 14, 2009
The Preliminary SAT will be administered during school hours for sophomores and juniors. Freshmen students who are currently enrolled in Accel. Math I are also encouraged to participate. The state pays for all sophomores to take the exam. Juniors are strongly encouraged to take the PSAT as this is the only way to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. Juniors and eligible freshmen may sign up in Guidance beginning October 1.
Stuff for Sophomores January 14, 2010
Information Night 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
The final evening parenting program will focus on strategies to help your Sophomore student make the most of his/her high school career. We will review study skill strategies, discuss course selection, and introduce you to the Georgia Career Information System and GeorgiaCollege411, both of which provide a wealth of information on career options, test taking, post-secondary institutions, etc.
Application Courses Information Night January 14, 2010
(including AP courses) 7:30 – 9:30 pm
Come and learn about all courses which require an application for enrollment, including Advanced Placement courses at McIntosh. Teachers will be available to explain the application process and course content.
